Birds Of Prey April 1st 2010

This was a special treat for us all and we were all very excited, especially the two children who were chosen to hold a bird, which looked just as big as both of them! They were really brilliant and listened very carefully and did exactly what they were told.
The whole class loved it and we even got a letter telling all the children what a pleasure it was to visit Luckwell.

23.2.10 and 2.3.10

First week back we started our Literacy story The Scarab's Secret - lots of Adventure and Mystery. We talked about the tooth fairy and how we need to look after our teeth. Our tooth fairy poems are brilliant! We finished our Kandinsky art in ICT using Art Revelation. In French we played The Farmer's in his den. A very different version as the end is Le fromage and le battu!

We have had a very exciting week! First of all we had a surprise P.E. session with Debbie on Tuesday morning, which we all enjoyed. In ICT we learnt how to enter data to make a graph.
We talked about prayer and what it feels like to be still. We wrote reflective poems, and prayers. We learnt about how Buddha became a teacher.

On National Book Day on Thursday we had a dressing up day as our favourite character. Photos to follow and had a fabulous time. On Friday we did observational drawings and learnt how to use water colour.

12.02.10

We had our last netball session.
We all wrote a postcard as if we were on holiday in Egypt.
We were really excited painting our cats and then drawing our designs on them.
They look absolutely amazing and are now exhibited in the classroom.
In ICT we designed Kandinsky pictures using Art Revelation.
We discussed our Topic Materials which we are doing next term.
Our first daffodil flowered on Friday!
We were very sad that Halley was leaving us, but we wish her well in her new school.
The class wrote Halley a very special friendship poem.

5.02.2010

This week we had another fantastic netball session.
We did our big write and wrote a letter as if we were on holiday in Egypt.
We did a Tableaux at the seaside and visiting a museum.
We mummified our cats using modroc - first we had to cut the modroc into strips and then wet the strips and then put the modroc on the bottle.
We had a surprise visit from the Judo club and even a bigger surprise when Magnus joined in!!
We were all very proud of him especially when he threw the teacher over his shoulder onto the mat!
A special moment for Mrs Christmas was when the class sang her Happy Birthday on Monday.

29.01.2010

This week we raised £140 for Haiti earthquake appeal.
Absolutely brilliant!
We had another fantastic netball session.
We spent this week learning about the story of Moses and the Passover.

29.01.2010

We were all looking forward to this week!
We had a fantastic session with out netball coach and learnt some really brilliant ball skills and team games.
We designed the back and front of our modroc cats and did some superb designs.
We had a lot of fun filling our plastic bottles with sand.
When we weighed our bottles with sand in we had to work out how much the sand weighed.
That took a lot of problem solving!!!
The fun began when we made our cat heads - lots of sculpturing. Everyone followed the technique to ensure their cats heads and ears were on securely.
Recorder playing was fun this week as Mr Hill's group played the second part of a round.
In ICT we experimented with different media using the programme Art Revelation.

22.01.2010

We all chose a different piece of research about Ancient Egypt.
We decided to make booklets, leaflets and posters.
We located places on a map of Ancient Egypt.
We learnt an Egyptian song with actions!
In ICT we all went on a Tomb Adventure - it all started when we
went in the classroom and found some objects in a basket.
We guessed they belonged to an archaeologist.
Sarah livingstone asked us to help her to find some clues to find the tomb.
We wrote an archaeologist's journal.
